Privacy policy
Last updated: May 2026
Stashshot is designed to be private by default. Screenshots never leave your browser unless you explicitly download them. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
What we collect
We collect anonymous usage events via Mixpanel to understand how people use Stashshot. These events contain no personal information and cannot be traced back to you.
What we never collect
Your screenshots — they never leave your browser
The URLs or content of pages you capture
Your name, email, or any personal information
Your IP address or precise location
Any content from your clipboard or browser tabs
How your screenshots are stored
Screenshots are held in chrome.storage.session — browser memory that is wiped when your browser session ends. Nothing is written to disk unless you explicitly click “Download as ZIP.” We have no access to this data at any point.
Third-party services
We use Mixpanel for anonymous analytics. Mixpanel may set a cookie or use local storage to generate an anonymous identifier for your browser. No personal data is sent to Mixpanel.
You can review Mixpanel’s privacy policy at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Chrome extension permissions
Stashshot requests the following Chrome permissions:
activeTabTo capture a screenshot of the current tab when you press the shortcut.
scriptingTo inject screenshots into the AI tool chat input when you click "Paste all."
storageTo hold your screenshot queue in session memory within the extension.
Future changes
If we introduce accounts, cloud storage, or additional data collection in a future version, this policy will be updated and you will be notified before any changes take effect. We will never sell your data.
